Please read all instructions before using your Chantal Chafing Dish. Save these instructions.
IMPORTANT WARNINGS & INSTRUCTIONS
DO NOT LEAVE AN OPEN FLAME
UNATTENDED.
DO NOT USE ALCOHOL FUEL
IN THIS BURNER. Serious injury
could occur.
Chantal's tempered GLASS LIDS are
shatter-resistant and oven safe up to
375°F/190°C, but avoid direct exposure
to a hot burner or flame, and avoid
extreme temperature changes. Do not
use abrasive cleaners on the lid that
can scratch. Note: Do not use the glass
lid if you notice a crack in it.
When using your pan in the oven, wear
an oven mitt to remove it as the knob
and handles will be hot.
Steam escaping from the lid can burn you.
Open the lid carefully so that rising steam
does not come in contact with your face
or hands, and wear an Oven Mitt to
protect your hand.
Cleaning Tips
Before first use, wash in hot soapy water, rinse and
dry. After daily use, wash in dishwasher or by hand.
The glass lid, food pan insert, water pan and stain
less stand are all dishwasher safe, however to get a
spotless shine, we recommend rinsing in hot water
and hand drying.
You may want to occasionally clean the exterior of
your Chafing dish with Chantal Stainless Steel and
Aluminum Cleaner (found on our website,
www.chantal.com). The use of our Chantal
Stainless Steel and Aluminum Cleaner will clean
tarnished surfaces due to overheating or gas flames
and will clean food film residue from the food pan.
Note: DO NOT use steel wool, scouring pads, oven
cleaners, bleach or strong abrasive cleaners. These
products will permanently scratch the stainless steel
and glass.
For the occasional dried-on or burnt food, mix 2
teaspoons Arm & Hammer® Super Washing Soda
(found in laundry detergent section of your grocer),
2 teaspoons baking soda and water. Simmer
ingredients and water in the pan for 15-20 minutes,
let pan cool to room temperature, then rinse.
Repeat if necessary.
Useful Hints
Chantal's Chafing Dish is designed for cooking and
serving. Note: The stainless steel Food Pan Insert
and Water Pan can be used in the oven, but it is
not recommended for stovetop use.
Preheat large recipes on stove in a traditional
cooking pot then pour into stainless food pan.
Or heat in microwave in a microwave-safe dish.
Always place a minimum of 1/2" to 3/4" of water in
the bottom pan before lighting fuel.
Do not allow the lower water pan to burn dry.
Check water level periodically.
When holding food for extended periods of time,
we recommend keeping the lid in place to retain
moisture.
To sustain proper temperature during use, regulate
burner to adjust to desired warmth.
Always wear hand protection, such as oven mitts,
when handling burner during warming process.
To protect the beauty of your pan, avoid strong
impact, over-heating and pre-heating empty.
< The stainless burner included with the Chantal
Chafing Dish is specially designed to accommodate
Chantal Burner Paste cartridges or other solid
heating fuels (gels), such as Sterno® canned fuel.
DO NOT USE ALCOHOL FUEL IN THIS
BURNER. SERIOUS INJURY COULD OCCUR.
How To Use Burner Paste
Remove burner cover lid by twisting lid in a counter
clockwise direction.
Drop in Chantal Burner Paste cartridge.
< Peel back foil cover carefully and replace burner lid.
Align and lock into place firmly by twisting lid clockwise.
Proper alignment and locked closure of the lid
are important in controlling the flame and heat.
Place burner securely in the base of the stand.
Note: For other sizes of solid fuel cans, such as Sterno
®
,
simply use burner base without lid.
Ignite. CAUTION: THE FLAME WILL NOT BE
VISIBLE IN BRIGHT LIGHT. DO NOT PLACE
HAND IN FLAME AREA TO CHECK FOR
IGNITION.
We recommend using a pot holder when handling burner.
Heat may be adjusted during use by partially
closing air vents.
To extinguish flame, simply place stainless burner
cover over the opening of the burner lid. After
extinguishing, allow burner to cool down before
handling. CAUTION: The burner will be extremely
hot while flame is burning. Be careful when
replacing or adding fuel in a hot burner.
After use, remove empty Burner Paste cartridge and
clean the base and burner completely with hot,
soapy water.
